Opinions/Questions on the water runs on the 2502V intake

When I was ready to install my motor, I asked the question about all of the funny nipples sticking ou of the intake around the base of the carb. I think ADDO pointed me straight that they were water runs that circulated around the outer edges of the intake. Was that for COOLING the intake or heating it?

I ended up hooking them up. I ran one of them to a fitting that was sticking out of the head near the front passenger side corner and the other one to a fitting on the water pump (on the lower-radiator hose side of things). I also have a temp sender in a fitting in the thermostat housing I could move if that would be better suited for the water lines.

I have two questions:

1. what are the benefits and/or drawback of hooking the water lines up? I'm in Florida, so heating things up isn't a problem!

2. did I do it right? In that I mean, if I hooked the lines up to fittings that are both "outgoing" water pressure, the water wouldn't flow through there right would it? It would just kinda meet up in the middle and hand there.

Given that the inlet manifold sits above the extractors I would have thought the purpose of the connection is to cool the inlet manifold rather than heat it. ie cooler = more dense charge. It gets hot in oz and we used to get issues with evaporation of fuel on hot days with some of the pre fuel injected cars.

I have got an original 2V. The two connections on the far left under the carburettor are connected to the cooling system at two points adjacent to the thermostat housing.

The connection at the rear on top of the manifold is connected to the brake booster and also on this connection I have another rubber hose which has been blanked off with a screw. Obviously there is no coolant in these hoses.

Hops this helps.

Nice avatar! Looks familar. You need to drop the extra "http://
at the back of the code in your profile, and it'll work. To make it smaller, add "th_" just following "/mkeily/"... Like this:

As to the water lines - well, I say they regulate the temperature. Headers were uncoated, so the radiated heat could be pretty great without the barrier given by a water jacket. Likewise, a hard run on a cold morning could get a little icy in the plenum otherwise.

Anyhow, that's just my take on things.

:D :D :D (I blacked out the plate.)

Cheers!

Mine follows the same path but through the manifold through the heater and back to the pump.

How did you install the temp sender in the thermostat housing? I am looking for a better way than the probe in the radiator fins.

I have the current supercharger engine connected. Just cut your passanger side heater hose and connect one hose IN and connect the other hose OUT! In a warm climate like yours it just depends on what you want to do?
