pcv alternate question

Originally I had a pcv valve in the valve cover and it ran to the port in the side of the carb adapter. My block came back from the machine shop without a plug in what I think is a crankcase vent hole just above the distrubuter. What I am thinking is this- I am planning to stck a cover over the cvs hole- (I have the two threaded holes on either side to hold it on) with a hole in it the right size for a pcv grommet. I'll mount the pcv valve there then run it to the port on the side of the intake log that is "T"ed for the C-4 transmission vacum line- with a stainless tube around the front of the motor to keep it squeeky clean.

The point of all of this-

1. I am running the Offy tri-carb with webbers and small air cleaners so I can't run the pcv into the air cleaner or carb base port (its not there)

2. I am still hoping that someday I will find an edelbrock finned aluminum valve cover from the 60's so I can make my life complete. . . they don't have a pcv hole. By the way I saw one for sale the first week I bought my car and DIDN"T BUY IT !

Anyway, does this all sound reasonable? Will the vacum line still work for the trans if I split it like that? Does anyone know where I could get one of those old valve covers?

Good luck on finding the edelbrock finned aluminum valve cover. I'd love to have one of those as well (so would a good chunk of the people on this forum!).
I don't think that plumbing the PCV in with the tranny vacuum line would cause any harm. If it still bothers you, you'll have to do a bit of machining to do the 3x1 set-up anyway, while you're doing that just drill & tap another hole in the intake for the PCV line. I like you're idea for using the original road draft hole for the PCV. Hmm, I might do that with my '63 as I have the original valve cover with out the PCV hole.

Wasn´t there a question on this forum about aluminum casting earlier this week?

Now, if we could make repros of that now-obsolete, highly desired part... even if it would be a plain finned, no-brandname-style, I bet a lot of us would want one.

the cliffy covers are so 80´s-looking to me...

There is also a austrailian one that says "falcon" and has fins. Those would also fetch a nice price over here.

It's always fun to have a holy grail to search for at the swap meets.

I have a stock 62 valvecover with on pcv hole. just has the filler tube on it. $5+shipping if you want it. get me anewer ford steel valvecover with a thread in filler and I will traqde you straight up (can be from anything as I am just cutting off the filler portion)
