im new here to this forum so i dont know if i am posting this in the rite place... however i just purchased a rust free 61 ford falcon and i want to build a sweet six banger for it. to do so i went out and bought a 200ci six from a 76 maverick......does anyone have any performance parts for a small six they want to sell....i want to go with a nice header a cam and an offy 3 deuce intake...i have never built a 6 banger before so any advice would help....if you have a intake, header, cam, or any other performance six parts for sale please email me at........................ mustang-dude@live.com or terri2856@yahoo.com thanks

Don't think Offy makes a 3 deuce intake. They have one bbls. If you want three deuces you'll have to buy adapters, figure out the linkages, etc. Plus thats ALOT of carbs for 200 ci to support... :?

Howdy Super-Falcon:

And welcome to The Forum and congrats on your new purchase. Check out our hosts performance enhancing products by clicking on the "ClassicInlines.com" at the top of this page.

Good used parts are very hard to come by. Checking the "Buy and Sell" topic regularly will be your best bet.

You might also do some searches. There is a wealth of good info on this forum. Information is power. Read, Read, READ!!!

Adios, David

i found an intake maid by offenhauser that holds 3 stock style 1brl carbs. thats what i am refering to..... they sell new for 260.00 but i would sooner spend less than that and settle for a used peice. i also want an a header and any other stuff that will make my falcon go fast.........thanks

Hello Super Falcon

There is quite a bit you can do to get some power out of the 200 six. Some of it is not to expensive most of it will cost you a few bucks. A couple of recommendations do a lot of reading on this site. Next is go buy this book http://falconperformance.sundog.net/ I would also recommend spending some time and yes money with Mike at www.classicinlines.com

He has done quite a bit to find and develop performance parts for our little hobby

Rather than going right to a triple carb set up, it might make sense to go to a single two barrel set up. There's a bunch of folks here running that way and they seem to report a significant performance boost from that when combined with a cam and a header.

Don't make the mistake of a cam that is too radical for the type of driving you will be doing. That's an easy mistake to make. Talk to Mike for help with appropriate cam grinds.

Where did you find it? Is it really in stock?

I found this one...

If anyone gives it a try, please post a review.

EDIT: I looked a little further, and they actually have three - two for the 170/200/250 (early vs late carb hole), and a separate one for the 144. They're pricey as hell though.

from what i have read a 3 carb intake sucks for power but it looks awsome......thats the main reason i want it. thanks

I've never heard anyone say their 3x was too weak - tuned properly, it should be a kick in the pants.

ya, no six banger is gonna be a kick in the pants......... if you want that i would recomend a nice built 289 or 302..... i was building a 289 for the falcon but decided i would sooner make 17 mpg and go slow than make 7mpg and go fast.........thanks

Ha, hows 10's in the 1/4. Not a big enough kick for you ? :)

I think there are a few people here who would STRONGLY disagree with that statement.

WELL I wouldn't say that...................

show me a 10 second small block 6 cylinder. and i will show you an 8 second v'8 powered mustang street car..... p.s there may be a few fast ones out there but the all sound like ****..... realy what beats the sound of a small block ford. just thinking about it is starting to make me rethink that whole six cylinder falcon thing

With todays fuel prices, true the 6 will not pass too many V8', but it will pass a gas station many more times than the 8. Bill

finaly someone else who is smart.........six's are slow. maybe some paople like being passed by loaded dump trucks going up hill........ thanks
