Hey guys,,

Lovin hot august nights its so much fun omg lol... Well went cruisin in victorian sqaure in sparks and traffic stopped, naturallu i stoped to after sittin there for a couple mins doing little revs not exceding 2000 rpm i put it back into drvie and my motor dies. pushed it to the side and poped the hood. first thing i checked was spark none. I so i took the dis cap off and the petronix were exteremely hot, let it cool and still no spark.. put a set of good old points in and it starts right up. So i guess my good old petronix unit went out, :( poor thing, had it for about 2 years so i guess it was a good life span. So my question is now that my petronix ignitior 1 went out after 2 years do you guys think its a good investment to swap to the petronix ignitior 2. Also do you gys know the part numbers.

Just search "Pertronix" and you will find a wide variety of opinions herebouts. I can tell you right now, the strongest voices will be for a replacements with a DSII system scavenged from later Fords. I myself am quite happy with my Pertronix II, but these guys will try to sell you on the DuraSpark II electronic ignition.

I am one of those guys.

I've run both, and unless you are worried about stock appearance, I'd use this as an excuse to go DS2. that way if it ever happens again...you can just run to an autostore and pick up parts.

Also, teh DS2 doesn't tend to overheat...and you can run bigger wires.

check with pertronix, i think they have a 30 month warranty? www.pertronix.com i would go back wth the #1. i know of many installations using the II had rough idle problems. myself included. check out all my posts on the II. william
