As long as it is the right size they are all pretty much the same cast pistons.

The only forged pistons will have to be special order. I have looked into getting forged pistons and Ross Racing pistons has them in their custom made list but not stocking.

IIRC it would be just over $600 for a set.

the Falcon Six book says something about being able to use any pistons for the 2.3 4-cyl- same bore, pin diameter, and compression height. I'd think there'd be something out there in the performance category for that particular engine.

Check out SIlvoLite Pistons (as mentioned by name in the book). There's probably some other makes, too.

That would be the 2.3L HSC Tempo/Topaz 4 cylinder. It is also a cast piston but is a flat top so it helps raise compression if someone uses a late model head.

Unless you are running serious boost (really), you only need cast pistons. Standard pistons will work fine up to medium power applications; after that hypereutectic (cast) ones will be best bet. The forged ones are not so ideal for a daily driven car where engine life is an issue.

The extra cost of forgies can be better spent on precision machining the bores to run really nicely with other cast or hyper pistons (torqueplate, then hone to fit).

Regards, Adam.
