Just got the 77' head back from the shop. They cleaned and magnafluxed, said there was nothing wrong with it. I am going to clean it and put a mild port job on it this weekend and then next week run it in to my machinist for planing the log flat. I have looked at two ways to mill this thing flat; 1) plane it level from about 1/3 from the front past the hole leaving about a 1/3rd in the backfollowing the slope of the log centerline, or 2) plane it from the back to the end of the hole up front keeping the same plane as the face of the hole. Does this make any sense to anyone? If it does share with me what you think.
