Hello all ok, I have a 144 in my 62. I have been replacing some of the old with some new and or improved. I got with a good parts place to get an autolite 1100 carb to help out my engine, and i have it but its vacuum choke and i'm set for manuel. i called them back and my guy is having probs locating one with just man choke. he says he can get a 1101 but i thinks thats to big. My 144 is plane jane and I'm only tring to make it run better and more dependable. Yes I got the idea for the swap from the great handbook. Is there any other single barrel carb that will bolt on that I can use? Thanks for everything love this site......Jake

Howdy Jake:

Yes, a Holley, Model #1908 for a 1962 Falcon with a 170 engine should be a direct bolt on, have a manual choke and increase CFM from 130 to 150. It will look very similar to your 144 carb on the outside. It will have a SCV to be compatible with your distributors Load-a-Matic vacuum advance system.

The Ford code should read C2DE- (a variety of suffixes).

Adios, David
