plug gap/ticking

Well Ive been trying to stop the ticking and the dripping but I keep running in snags..stuck bolt creates trip to ER...no socket for breaker bar to get the bolt off with. So tonight i figured I would atleast gap my plugs to 45 from stock 35 which i hadn't done but need to after my pertronix install. And I fire her her up and, theres no ticking, is it me or are the two related?

Maybe you had a plug wire that was kinda-sorta on the plug but not really seated firmly, causing the spark to jump to ground rather than going through the plug. Then when you re-gapped the plugs you got it seated good and it stopped the ticking. Just guessing though.

i though about that but the ticking was happening before i put the pertronix in and i put in new wires when i did that

If it starts ticking again try running the engine at night and watch for errant sparks. That can be quite educational. But be careful, it is easy to get wound up in the fan when you can't see
