Port polish

whould a port polish make any major difference in perfomance, i got some instructions from that cobra six web site on how to do it myself.

8) a proper port job can improve performance a little or a lot depending on how bad the ports were to begin with. polishing on the other hand works for a few miles, but the carbon build up will eliminate any advantage you would have gotten. as long as you keep the protrusions no larger than .030" you wont have any problems with them. one more thing, a slightly rough finish on the ports will actually improve power on most engines. david vizard found it was worth 5hp on a ported mini head to keep the port walls rough.

Only on the intake, mind you. It helps keep fuel in suspension. Polish the exhaust to a mirror sheen if you wish.
