I have been trying to complete all the details to potentially go for an aussie head swap, but I wanna know if there is a consensus of some kind over which carb is the best to go with given a stock or slightly upgraded cam.

Talk to Az Coupe or OfenokeeComet

There are adaptors to turn the Ford 2V intake manifold over to the Holley 2300/ Autolite 2-bbl bolt pattern.

Some details:

The Aussie 2V head uses a carb similar the the Dodge 241/313/318 Stromberg WW 2-bbl. These were quite common on Hudsons and AMCS too, and were the carbs most Mopars ran before the Email/Carter carbs of the post 1964 era. You can possibly find a cash crop of domestic US parts for it, but Aussie bits have a habbit of being updated in details.

The Aussie WW Stromberg 2-bbl was used on:-
the Buick derived 268 cube Leyland P76 1973 to 1975
the local General Motors Holdens
1968 2650S Torana
1968-1971 186S L6's
1969-1980 253's V8 Holdens

Aussie (Oz) Fords that used it were:
1971-1976 2V 250 170 hp (gross) engine
1972-1976 302 Cleveland V8's (rated at 240 hp gross or 207 hp net)

If you go to the mister gasket website, they have a 2v-2v carb adaptor that goes from stromberg to Holley. I can't remember the number right off hand.

I had my intake manifold modified by Big Al's croneys to direct mount a 4V. I love it. I get the power of a 4V, mileage of a 2V, and better atomization of the fuel with the smaller venturis of the 4V.
