My msd street fire has a built in rev limiter, it was set at 6500 from the factory but i recently bumped it up to 7000, were should it be set on a stock engine? and were should i set it once i install my 300cfm autolite carb?
I'd say that a stock engine won't ever hit 6500 unless you miss a shift (in which case, a rev limiter is pointlesss). I'd put it at 4500 or so. And leave it there. Not sure when exactly valve float sets in, but figure it's at or around 5000.
You won't make any power over appx. 4200 or so anyhow unless you invest in a cam and some port work.

8) for a stock engine, and even a mildly modified engine, set the rev limiter at 5000rpm. that will give you plenty of rpm with out hurting the engine when the driving gets frisky.
Only cause you asked: Many of my family's pictures include auto related props, it's kinda' family tradition (American tradition?).
The day I took that picture it was at least 110 degrees in the garage. While I put the 250 in the '61 , mom sat there talking to me, handing me tools and clutching her sweater. First Falcon I drove was her '60 Wagon around 1965. Here's a better picture of mom with my dad from the 1939 worlds fair.

It funny how some older folks really like the heat. I had a friend who's grand parents lived in an non air-conditioned house in Central Texas. On top of that you would walk in and they would have those old gas heaters with the ceramic bricks heating the living room and kitchen in the summer.
That is a better tradition than my friend's. He often snarled in all his class photos I had with him. The other thing I saw in a lot of his family pictures was he would hold one arm up in the air. I think it started with the need to focus the SLR cameras. It just became a silly tradition in his family's photos.
