What are the 2 vacuum ports for on the side of the RBS carb? Mine are blocked off. Are they suppose to be hooked to the vacuum port on teh intake manifold?
Thanks,
Ken

I have mine blocked off to. I hooked up my distributor vacuum advance to a port on the spacer block under the carb and the manifold port goes to the pcv valve. I think atleast one is like half vacuum pressure.
Is your car hard to start after it sits for a bit, like 3-4 days?
I have to "prime" mine by pushing the accelerator pump down a couple times to get some gas in it before I crank it or else it takes a long time to start. Once it starts it runs great.

No, mine starts pretty well. My car sems to run great from 45 mph on. From idle to 45 it seems to struggle. It feels like it's dragging an anchor up until 45mph. If I can't get this low speed accleration figured out, it will be 2bbl time.
The static timming is 12 degrees advanced, the centrificual advance is 13x2 or 26 degrees. The carb has been rebuilt with no jet change. The plugs look pretty good, the #1 has a slight brown color the rest look good.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ken

upper port usually connects to distributor vacuum canister, while the lower port is used for EGR on some applications.

Thanks Simon,
I wonder if the engine would run better with the upper port connected to the distributor and blocking off the intake port. What do you think?
Thanks again,
Ken

Ken,

ported vacuum, as provided by the upper port on the right side of your RBS carter carb, provides vacuum from below the venturi, above the trottle plates at off-idle and part throttle. manifold vacuum is highest at idle and decreases at part throttle. both ported vac and manifold vac should read zero at WOT.

whether to use ported vacuum or manifold vacuum depends on how your system and distributor is set up, and your driving habits. both sources have their advantages.
