Had this this '67 I'm working on running fine last week. Today, I can't get it to start. I'm getting fuel in the bowl, but no accelerator pump. Can't keep it running with starter fluid either. I pulled the carb apart - all looks good with the needle/seat/float - nice and clean and free moving, but of course the accelerator circuit is kinda a sealed unit on these...

Any suggestions before I junk it?

woah dont junk it yet. maybe get a rebuild kit. the accelerator pump isnt impossible to open cause it comes with the rebuild kit. to open it up though u need to use a knife or something (i used a hammer too :D ) put then the cap pops off and if u take off the E clip thats holding the shaft u can just slide it out. check the rubber seal, i rebuilt mine and it ran good for a bit but then it stopped pumping fuel, i tried readjusting the float but then i just took out the pump and the rubber seal that keeps the gas from getting past had slipped off. yours could be shot. a rebuild kit cost about 20.00. dont junk it though cause ive got and RBS too (not hooked up cause i got a different one) but when i had it on i liked it plus its a nice sleek design thats about 1" lower than a newer carb which is good if u have hood clearance. But if u dont care about the carb then u could always go tho the unk yard and get a Carter YFA or something for cheap and rebuild it (if it needs it)

Well.... I need to have this car on ebay in less than 48 hrs... and conveniently... it stops running.

I've rebuilt an RBS before, and I colorfully cursed the hell out of that accelerator pump assembly then....

Something I just noticed - that c-clip on the pump rod is gone.... hmmm

What the heck - nothing like tearing a carb apart at 11pm.

Keep in mind also that the RBS uses a bass-ackwards method of pump engagement. As you open the throttle, it allows a spring to push the pump down into the well. It's not directly connected to the throttle.

Cha-ching.... rubber seal = FUBAR!!!! The missing e-clip may have helped to tear it.

Thanx guys! Geez.... Time to polish off the beer and go to bed I guess.
