Rebuilt 5200 (pics)

If you have never rebuilt a carb like myself...the 5200 is the first one you should do. However, I paid about $15 for the carb out of the yard, $16 for the kit, $15 for the solvent bath, and $2.50 for the carb cleaner. About $50 total and you can buy a rebuilt from stovebolt for about $65. A little savings but not much..I did it just to see if I could and to learn a little about the carb. Also, does anyone know what I do with the solvent bath, that stuff is really strong, when I took off the plastic ring the top just exploded from the pressure...Of course I read the warning on the top of the can and had my head clear and my goggles on...Should I attempt to store it or get rid of it???

Everything, JackFish..Idle screws, all jets, mains, even the needle in the tank...Soaked every thing over-nite... then cleaned everything with my carb cleaner...On the bottom where the throttles were rusted---instead of taking out the plates and having to reset the screws..I took a dab of naval jelly and an old tooth brush and scoured them and rinsed them off before the dunk. Took the washer nozzles out the next day and let it soak for another 5 hours and then went over every nook, cranny and passage way with the carb spray again. Finally I went to my C/H compressor and blew it all away! Then methodically put every labeled piece back where it came from, exactly like I took it apart.

All together now, can WE Say "OCD!!"
