What are some of the ways to restore the finish on the Autolite 1100? Has anyone used the carb renew paint that is on the market? Could you just use Hi-Temp engine paint on the carbs?

to me, the carb renew paint looks like silver paint..its OK.....

but i certainly dont know of anything better

cast aluminum parts don´t need any renew paints, just a suitable solvent (gas, diesel, carb cleaner, suit yourself) and a throrough scrubbing, media blasting at best (take care to tape off the internals first, and do a good and thorough job on cleaning from blasting media afterwards).

The gold-green Zamac-parts are more troublesome. There is only one way to restore their finish right, and its done by platers only.
Eastwood company´s carburetor spray paints offered for the hobbyist have a good reputation among magazines on the newsstand, but a lousy one among car guys.
As good as they look, their yellow-dichromate-paint will wash off like childrens watercolors.

2k catalyzed enamel atop catalyzed epoxy primer is a good compromise of cost efficiency and gas resistance.

an even cheaper alternative, yet as effective, is to POR15 the thorougly cleaned and sanded surface, then lightly fog it with some spraycan primer. Once cured, hit it with gold wheel paint from the rattlecan.
