Road Draft Tube Recirc

I was stopped at a red light and I notice whisps of smoke coming from the front of my car. I thought I was over heating. I figured out it was my draft tube. Has anybody hooked a hose to the tube and directed it to the air cleaner to be recirculated through the carb.. Is it safe? would it improve ventalion?...Your thoughts ....ZZ

I pulled my valve cover off, drilled a hole in it and plumbed a pcv valve to the base of my carb, stopping up the road draft tube. Problem was it pulled too much causing engine to overheat due to lean burn. Had to put some restriction inline. I think it was pulling back through the oil cap also so you might want to change that. It is an easy fix if you don't have too much blowby.

oh yeah, you probly have a fitting in your carb plate you can use.

I used the road draft tube outlet on my old '57 T'Bird 312. I plumbed it to a newer carb base made for PC Valves. 8)
You should get a later model valve cover, because there is a baffle below the valve on the inside, to keep you from sucking in oil, insted of fumes.

I've figured on a V8 approach. Use one of the paper filter type breathers adapted to the tube hole in the block, with a PCV-equipped cover. That way, filtered air is drawn through the crankcase, cooling it and eventually being burnt.
