Hi all is this carb any good ? I have one that was gave to me and I just was wondering if it was worth trying on my mav ? modle # 17054659 or 017 7 1 I think its the first one ? thanks BTW I think its a 500 CFM carb

I've got one of these. I decided to use the Holley 2-bbl instead. The throttle plates on the 2CG are the same size and centre spacing, two 1.6875" circles at 1.875"centres. They are very basic, with a metal baseplate that doesn't crack or bend. If you get the one used for 2-bbl 327's or some of the 396's, they have very good gas-flow. The last ones that fitted the 231 BuickV6's in 1978 were pretty good too.

The bolt spacing is four bolts at much less farther apart than the 500 Holley #2300, but wider spaced than the two bolt early 2 jets. There are two types, and some are barely over 320 cfm at 3.0Hg. Early 283 ones are the smallest.

Dunno much else.

If you are planning to adapt one to your 250, then you'll not have a problem if you can drill the cast iron log to suit the smaller bolt spacing.

we ran a 2GC on our first 200 race car and it worked flawlessly, but with some mods. and its easy to work on and get parts for, too.

it looks like the mid 70s with a man choke . So no matter wich one it is it will be better than stock and a lot better than buying a nother carb right ? and by mods do you mean to the carb or drilling the holes in the intake ? Thanks :)

its a four bolt carb too . How hard would it be to put on an inported head ?

76maveric, you've been worn down by our nasty, evil performance is everything thoughts. Soon you will be cheating budgets like a real hot rodder!

I've checked the 2CG's before, and they are not the same bolt spacing, but they are close. There are two type of bolt spacing for the Aussie Stromberg 2-bbl. One type was run on the GM Holden 186S six cylinder and 253V8 , and the other one that was run on the 250 2v was a different bolt spacing.

The Rochester Productions 2CG is a great piece of equipment at a piece of junk-price. At Charlton Autos in Gore, my mate Woody would sell a fertilizer sack full for about $50. But I haven't figured out how to bolt 9 2CGcarbs on a 250....yet!

Filling and drilling a 250 2v manifold will allow you to fit a 2CG. Double nut the studs, then remove the studs. Just have a fitter TIG weld the four bolts, and then redrill to suit the 2CG bolt pattern, tap and die the hole, and place some new bolts in there. Nothing to it!

naw I`ve alwase been cheep but its just now starting to show  . thanks for the info :D
