I was wondering if this is a Tach problem or is the stock HEI giving out above 4800? It fluctuates crazy back and forth whenever it goes beyond 4800...
It's only the tach. The engine still sounds like it's climbing the RPM's and very strong. There is absolutley no skip/stutter in the engine at that range, only the tach. If it was the HEI giving out, (needing a hotter/multispark unit) will the engine show any signs?
