SCV on an Autolite 1100

Hi Guys, new member here. My question is regarding the Spark valve on a 66 - 200 with an Autlite 1100 carb. A previous owner put a Mallory dual-point in place of the original load-o-matic. The vacuum line was plumbed in manifold vacuum. In order to use ported vacuum can I plug the SCV an use the original port for ported vacuum? Right now the SCV is functional but the original port for the line has a plug in it.

Thanks

No you don't what to use a SCV port for anything but an original load-o-matic distributor.

Thanks Bubba, that's what I thought. Does the valve itself need to be sealed off? Does it create any sort of vacuum leak if left as is or should it e sealed?

Jeff

If the valve is not leaking you can just cap the line port or you can remove and cap off the opening. There is also suppose to be away to rework the SCV passages into a regular ported vacuum for use with late style distributor. have not tried to do it yet but i am planing too try it.

Thanks again. I have the port blocked off.
I measured vacuum at the port- 2.5 lbs vacuum when valve opens. It's closed at idle. Manifold vacuum is 19.5 - 20.
I've got it using manifold vacuum, even though it seems to run a bit rougher, it responds better.

Yeah the Ford SCV and a LOD works much different than any other advance system it is a combo of the carbs ventura and manifold vacuum. What is needed for yours is a ported vacuum that takes its source just under the carbs throttle blades. Manifold vacuum will also work but you need to use a bit different tuning to get the best results if you have a timing light you might check to see what your total timing is and rate of advance (the curve). Getting everything dialed in takes time but the results from setting up the proper tune can unlock some power and or economy.
