i'm sure you remember me talking about how my car was acting up, and finally i put it out of its misery when i accidentally broke the fuel filter thread off in the old carb. so after a month of waiting for my new carb cuz i was sent the wrong one, etc. i got the new one in yesterday. at 10:30 pm im outside working on the mustang and i go to put the carb on and whats this?!?! :x the damn holes wont clear the studs. 10 minutes of boring out the holes with a screwdriver later, and it slides on perfectly, no play, no nothing. so i bolt everything up and go to start it. "wa,wa,wa,choo" it makes this noise a few times and fails to start........ok now im mad, its 11 pm and i go inside all mad and such. so around 12 pm i start to wonder if maybe the fact that my dizzy cap had come loose could have something to do with it. sure enough, the thing is reversed. so i take the 2 lil clips off, rotate the cap 180 degrees, and turn the key. "WROOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!" it roars to life at about a 3500rpm idle.....lol. i eventually get it back down to around 1200 after waking up some neighboors and their dogs. i was so happy......i cant even describe how it felt. i immediately took it for a spin once i gave it a rough tune. any problems it had before ARE GONE. no more sputtering, backfiring, hesitation, NOTHING. lots more power too, its a totally different car now. heck if i take it up to 30 mph, let off, then get on it again im thrown back in the seat.....before it wouldnt even get me excited since the accelaration was so slow. not bad for being 16 and it being the first time i even try to do anything like this much less by myself. i also set the timing and stuff, and later i'll fine tune it. MY MECHANIC HAS BEEN OWN3D!!

i had gotten a holley 1 barrel, but it wouldnt fit so i went back to the stock ford 1100. i could have made an adapter but school is out so i didnt have access to any welders, plasma cutters, etc. also i wanted to keep it simple. believe it or not, even the wimpy ford 1 barrel made a huge difference in the performance of the car. got to around 65 mph in just a little over 2 blocks. and like i said, no more hiccups. plus it just sounds healthier, has that lil i6 rumble. cant wait to find a honda i can try it out on......lol.

Did you get one of those re-engineered 1100's, the ones that are supposed to be an improvement over the originals? I'm asking because I'm thinking of just rebuilding mine, but if you're stating that these really work well . . .

i got mine from mustangs unlimited, its a remanufactured one and it looks to have some different things than my original one. im not sure if its re-engineered but it sure does work a heck of alot better than my old POS. ill check them later and post the differences up tommorow. i would recommend getting one of these since they basically go through and redo the entire thing. not to mention it is all shiney and dirt free. ill take some pics of my engine bay soon.
