See pics please - Is this an autolite 1100? Carb Tag C3PF C

Just bought this NOS carb. Was told it was an Autolite 1100. Tag says C3PF C - Never has been installed on a car.

I want to put on my 67 mustang 200 six. Please help! Will it work? I see it has the SVC that I need. Throttle bore measures to about 1 1/2 almost 1 9/16. My old carb measure 1 7/16. That is a little odd?

Also should I bolt on as is or rebuild first? Are the seals and rubber etc good after all these years?

You have to click the links to see pics. I tried to get them in the post but no luck??

Thanks a lot for any help!

Looks like an Autolite 1101 with SCV, probably originally fitted to a 240. It will work on your engine and you will pick up a few horses with it, but you will likely need to take a grinder to your aluminum spacer and taper the top inside so the throttle plate won't bind in it. If it was never used, I would try running it as-is.

I agree that looks like an 1100 or in that series . I wouldn't trust gaskets that old plus the modern gas with ethanol is usually not compatible with older materials - gaskets , seals , needle and seat , accelerator pump may fail .

Thanks for the replies.

1) Can anyone be sure if this is an 1100 or 1101? I have heard all 1101 carbs do not have SCV. Not true?

2) Is there anywhere to buy the proper carb spacer instead of removing material from the old one?

3) Can I be sure this will work on my car before I rebuild it? 1967 200 with SCV distributor.

I guess I will rebuild it before use. It should be easy. No need to soak it in parts cleaner. Just swap out the little parts and gaskets...

Thanks again

I've had a few SCV 1101's. They were factory carbs on the 240's in 65-6 in California, and some other years/areas depending on smog etc.

The bore hole on your intake is either 1 1/2" or 1 3/4". I think they were enlarged to 1 3/4" on the 200's in about 1968. You can find 1 3/4" bore spacers that also have the 45 degree jog in them (needed to turn the carb properly). I know a guy that has 3-4 of them for sale. Does yours have the water jacket one? Those are only in the 1 1/2" bore.

So, check out what bore size you have on the intake, and then decided whether the 1100 or 1101 is the right carb.

I have the carb spacer with the water jacket. Sound like I need to modify it? SUX....Still need to figure out what venturi size this is etc...Wish I was able decode the tag number but I guess it aint possible? Thanks

decode...it aint possible?
Yes it is. No tag and IDing the right place and those #s stamped in each location on the carb also help. Stick w/us dude!

Howdy'67 and All:

My best shot at decoding the tag is that it is from a ford pickup with a 223 six engine. The 1101s from '63 are coded C3AF-A (Manual trans) and C3AF-B ( auto trans).

Q- "1) Can anyone be sure if this is an 1100 or 1101? I have heard all 1101 carbs do not have SCV. Not true?"
A- IF the t-bore is 1.69" or about 1 11/16" It is an 1101. The 1100 t-bore is significantly smaller at 1 7/16". The only 1101 that is not SCV is the 1969 version used on Mustangs with 250 engines. All earlier ones used on 223 sixes in 1963 and 1964 have SCVs.

Q- "2) Is there anywhere to buy the proper carb spacer instead of removing material from the old one?"
A- Very unlikely. Even finding one in a recycle yard is a remote possibility.

Q- "3) Can I be sure this will work on my car before I rebuild it? 1967 200 with SCV distributor."
A- No. Make the swap. It is basically a bolt off- bolt on. As someone already mentioned, you will have to taper the inside top of your current carb spacer to clear the larger butterfly of the 1101. The adapter is soft metal and can easily be done with a rat tail of round file. As soon as you pump gas into it, you'll know. I have swapped on rescued carbs of unknown heritage and many have work amazingly well. No point in solving a problem before you have it.

Keep us posted.

Thanks - I called Pony Carbs and a guy there is trying to figure out what I have.

The numbers are C3PF C

The 3 does mean 1963 and P means it is a replacement carb, not installed on a car in the factory. Not sure about the other letters...

He is stumped by the fact that the throttle bore measures 1 9/16 ( I do carpentry for a living so I now how to measure) and not 1 11/16 (1101) or 1 7/16 (1100)

He is going to discuss with others and email me back. Soon I hope! I am going to see if I can figure out how to measure the venturi size. I guess I need to get a gauge of some kind...
