sellin my '66 straight 6

I am converting my 66 mustang to a 289 from the straight 6 and am looking to sell the engine, there is a minor oil leak and other than that runs great. I was wondering if anyone could give me a price range to what the engine is worth/what i could sell it for. Any info on this will help tremendously!

Lots of variables.

But to give you an idea, I bought my current 200 about eight years ago for $100, and it had been rebuilt.

They aren't terribly valuable which is why I still have a spare in my garage. if it has a lot of miles or unknown miles, you might get $100 for it if someone really wants the head.

Some one needs to tell that to the fold around here. There is one on cl for 1000

And that's why it's still on CL.

Location is important. Shipping is $$$$$.
Condition is also important: low miles, recent rebuild, running, not smoking, rebuildable, boat anchor.

Purchased a 66 200cid for $100 as a rebuildable core. Oil pan to air cleaner including bellhousing, 9-inch flywheel and clutch, rebuilt 2.77 tranny.

I see junk listed on CL's all the time at absurd prices. I was watching one guy ask for dealer retail in excellent condition price for a 1995 Volvo T5-R. Now they are rare, but his car has 300k+ on it. AC didn't work, exterior was beat, interior was worse. But he reposted in CL for about 10 months.

That's how you attrach scammers. Sell something for high retail and nobody in their right mind would pay for. The only replies you get are from people trying to get one over on you by sending a ridculous amount and asking you to refund the difference to his brother. Instead turn the fake money order into the authorities. I had a friend who loved to mess with Nigerians this way.
