Should I lift my engine with these?

I found these on a 250 I believe....and thought they would be better than bolting to the block like I did when I pulled it.....but now that I have them on---they look kind of flimsy---think they will hold my engine and transmission. I am putting them both back in at one....and will have to come in kind of steep---I took them out separately? I will of course detach the valve cover and carb first. Anyone use these things?

The alloy headed crossflows I had all had those (or ones that looked very similar) from the factory, and I lifted the engine/transmissions with them a bunch of times with no problems at all

those are what the factory used to sling the engine and trans. So yes, they're designed to lift the engine and trans.

I just picked up my cadillac 8.2 500 with its THM425 transmission and final drive with 2 loops not much larger than those. When I did my stock 200 with the stock C4 I used one of the extra bell hoising bolt holes in the back of the block and one of the extra threaded holes above the oil filter. I had one of those bars with the crank on it hooked to the hoist to get the angle to get it all in at one time. What got me is overhead clearance for the hoist. Almost didnt get it out in the garage. Goin in I did in the driveway so there was no problem.

Those are also what I use when I rebuild these engines and install them, I've never had any problems. I take them off when done for a cleaner look. Now I just need to find where I put mine, I promised to trace the dimensions of them for a fellow board member and haven't been able to find them since we've moved.
