I bought a straight 6 ford powering and irrigation pump and can't ID it. Its a small 6. Intake made into the head ( passenger side), 3 freeze plugs (passenger side), 4 water pump bolts. Any ideas which small 6 I have? Thanks!
Could be a 144 or 170 Six they both will have 3 Freeze Plugs on the side of the Block. Most likely a 170 there were lots of those for Industrial uses. There could also be a Code on the block to identify it if its a 1964 or older engine. They can be found on the road draft tube mounting boss, see picture. Block codes they used were an "N" for the 144 Six or a "T" for a 170 Six.
