smog pump as a vac pump?

im looking for a way to get vacuume to the crankcase without going through the carb. when i took my old cylinder head off i noticed it had alot of corbon in it and i think the oily air contributed, i was thinking of a smog pump as a vac pump. any thoughts? right now the engine is getting no vac to the block, thus blowing oily air all over the engine

how is that done? interesting

A male threaded pipe (IP) is welded into the collector at about a 30-45 degree angle pipe needs to project into collector somewhat at front. A one way check valve is screwed on to (60's 70's smog part, 390 FE’s use them on exhaust air inject). Add a fitting in vale cover (rear or back of V. C. away from breather) and connect with some heater hose or other add clamps.

should i use 2 or one with a breather?

Thats a good question I am only thinking about a design for my drag car build. But A V8 would use two. Do you have a single collector or two? If you have two than you could use two.

i just dont like pcv, the car looses a little power with it and i dont want contaminated air going in the engine, it had a pcv on it a short while ago, i took it off and noticed a difference

it is a street/strip car, im looking to build as much power as i can while being dependable, how much vac does the evac system produce? how much does a pump make? i was originally just going to take a electric vac pump system off a bmw and use that, but the evac system is way simpler, but which would give better results, or would it be about the same?

Don't know the answer to those two, but these systems have been in use on drag cars since atleast the 1970's maybe even the late 60's. Your idea for the electric vac pump system would also work though the evac would use no power.

how bout this system? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EVAC-SYS ... 1e65e7f044

Yes that is a lot like the homemade system described above except for the IP nips. are cut at an angle and its using breather caps instead of a hose nip. on valve cover. I think maybe the only question I have is why cut at an angle, instead of letting the leading edge hange down into collectors to get a Ventura or wing leading edge action to maybe pull a bit more? It may not make any big difference though and would be hard to test for a small change even on a dyno.

i got my vacuume system up and running, now i get lots of vac to my crankcase and no blowby at all, im kinda worried that my mr gassket breather will not filter the air/oil mix good enough and lock up the pump, so i still gotta get a separator i think
