speedometer cable for a T-5

How do you hook up the speedometer to the T-5 transmission? i looked at a picture and there isn't a hole for the speedo gear.

is that what the wires coming out of the top are for? if so what do i need to get to upgrade?

I used the speedo out of my 2.77

The speedometer from a T-5 is usually driven by an electronic VSS, but if you remove the 7/16" bolt that holds the clamp, you can remove the VSS and insert your old cable.

it's that easy, just take out the bolt and put in the original cable from my 3 speed

the pre 87 t5's (non WC) were all cable drive anyway......my 84 TC with cruise had a cable AND VSS

my 88 bent eight T-5 had the old standard cable drive system

You'll likely need to change the plastic gear to better calibrate the speedometer/odometer reading for your combination of tire size and rear axle ratio.

the 3 cyl t5 came with a 3.45/3.55 gear so if you have a 3.50 like me it will work right out of the box
