OK, so before you read on, check out http://fordsix.com/recommendedmods.htm.

I'm wondering if anyone can guess which stage the following setup would fall into:
200ci, 2502v head, holley 350cfm, clifford dual outlet with true 2" dual exhaust, and c4.

and..
what about this?
250ci (rebuilt with ford tempo 2.3L flattop pistons, upgraded cam--say a 270 or 260), 250 2v head with 350cfm, t-5 trans, 3.20 rear end.

in both cases, ignition is stock distributor with Pertronix I module and flamethrower (pertronix) coil

thanks guys!

Howdy Rob:

I hate to see your questions ignored, so I'll give it a shot. The OZ 2V head kinda changes the values of each stage, but the idea of a balanced engine package remains the same. So, for the-

"200ci, 2502v head, holley 350cfm, clifford dual outlet with true 2" dual exhaust, and c4."--

I would assess at a stage 2 PLUS- Meaning that without the proper cam and ignition operations in the higher rpm ranges would be limited. Stock CR is also a criteria.

This easily moves into the 3rd Plus stage. You've dealt with the cam, raised the CR and have a very compatible trans and rear gear- ignition is still a question.

To move beyond the 3rd stage, into Stage 4 territory means, IMHO, that you are building a specific competition engine to the max. These engines become less and less forgiving on the street. They are not economical to build or drive- but OHHhhhh the Joy!!!!

That's my two cents, for what it's worth.

Uh, what he said, but if you were in the money and added a turbo or even a good supercharger wouldn't that make a stage 4 and up a little more streetable? Of course you would probably want to change the cam out to something that would pulse a little more steadily...I think someone here said a dual pattern cam would be good. I know nothing! Just wanted to post and see if I have learned anything from the forum.. Im big on dreamin'.
