starters

i'm thinking the starter maybe going out,drawing alot of battery when i turn the key.put the ohms meter on the battery ..it was 12.5..turn the key to start 10.5 and had to put the charger on to start it..now this has only happen 4 times in 7 years..so i cleaned up all the grounds and removed the battery tender to see if maybe there is a cell on its last leg..we will see...but to change starters i have to remove the header...is there a shorter starter and where can i get one..
