I just got the holley/weber 2bbl progressive carb from Langdon Stovebolt www.stoveboltengineco.com along with the 1bbl to 2bbl adapter and their air cleaner. if there is anyone else that has done this conversion please comment. First of all i need to know how to set up the linkage i have a 66 mustang. then the bolt they sent me for the air cleaner doesnt seem to bolt into any where on the carb, the carb is a progressive 2bbl but has Autolite stampings, is this correct? and tuning information would be a great help along with pictures of the setup.

~Thanks Chris

Yeah, it is, but the link for the HW Conversion page on that site is dead AND it was a link to my stuff someone else hijacked anyway. I've contacted the owner of the referenced site, informed him of the hijacked link (not saying he did it), and provided him with the correct link.

8) The stovebolt piece does cost less..............it just looks so flimsey and cheap to me. I prefer to spend the extra bucks for the Clifford piece.

Falcon, the air cleaner that they sent was just a piece of cut aluminum for the bottom then the 2" high air element with a chrome top

I really need to know where everything hooks up, vac line, etc... also

the carb has the hot water choke on it and i could use some help with getting it hooked up along with everything else. i got the air cleaner hooked up and got it mounted on the adapter, should i keep it on the ford spacer or mount it at an angle off of the log

Hi Chris - I wasn't sure which air cleaner you got from Tom, but it sounds like you've got it figured out. This is the one I got only not polished:

Using the Ford adapter will simplify linkage mods, but hood clearance may be a limiting factor. You can use the Stovebolt adapter alone and convert to a throttle cable setup. There are a couple guys here that have done that. Maybe one of them will post the details.

good news and lots of bad news, well i've got the carb hooked up and the car will start and run except for :
1. still need a way to hook up the throttle linkage

2. NO HOOD CLEARANCE, gonna have to go for the Clifford adapter ( if anyone has one the don't need anymore PM me please)

3. How do you hook up the vaccum line from the dizzy

4. gonna need to replace my hardline gas line to rubber (maybe replace dizzy vac line if I need to)

5. still don't know how to run the hot water choke, Does the Clifford adapter do away with the flow through to the heater like the Ford spacer does? If it does then do I just move those lines to the choke?

any help appreciated

~Chris

1. I'm not sure about the Mustang linkage, but believe it is pretty simple to adapt. Check out some of the member pages. I think it's just a basic piece of flat strap to extend the arm. I play with early Falcons and they are completely different. :(

2. Can't help here.

3. Most use manifold vacuum, but that really depends on which distributor you're using. If you have the load-a-matic, you might have problems. I converted to the DS II (an easy swap with a post '64 block).

4. Should only need to replace a portion of it or make a new one to fit your application. I wouldn't run a rubber line all the way from the fuel pump.

5. The Clifford adapter replaces the Ford adapter, so you can route those coolant lines through the choke housing instead.

Isn't this fun?
