After I got the manifold done, I was kind of hung up on what to use for a spacer between the manifold and the carbs. I couldn't find any phenolic material the thickness I wanted and was just about to start laminating. I was even considering plywood. Then the other night I was cooking, slicing up some veggies when I realized that the poly cutting board would be perfect! And my wife would never notice a couple of inches whacked off the end (right :?).

Anyway, the poly board cuts nicely, holds up easily to the heat that manifold will encounter and voila! - done! I'm going to keep the rest of the board to use for future carb spacers and such.

I primed the bowls, reconnected the fuel lines, pulled the choke, turned the ignition and it fired right up, settling immediately into a nice idle. Mixture seems to be very close to correct. Throttle response is very nice, almost as good as the Mikunis. It only took a very mnor adjustment to get idle mixture and idle speed set. This is going to be nice!

I found some nifty round air filters for an industrial lawn mower and I'll see if those will fit. Pics later.

Glad to hear that, Jack.

You did mention your wife's cutting board in a previous post. For some reason, I could tell you weren't just playing around

I have since bought her a new board. And shoes and a dress. And a weekend at a B&B. Probably the most expensive carb spacers ever produced.... :?

and just think... you coulda went out and bought your own cutting board to mutilate and been better off.....

Evan, Evan, Evan. Better off? Nope.

The new cutting board was required.

The shoes and a dress. Just a nice thing to do anyway. Every wife needs a new set every other year or so.

And the B&B? How sweet. What a romantic place to go. Jack may have done that for his own self.
