TBI and Turbo pt2 - Megasquirt v2.2

The Megasquirt version 1.xx wont support turbos since the MAP wont read that high of pressures.

Bu the Megasquirt 2.xx will support turbo systems with up to 21lbs boost if I read their info correctly.

Here how hard it is to add turbo support.

1)Locate vacuum line from intake

2) plug into the MAP

The 2.2 system is already calculated for turbo.

Im getting all giddy and excited over this. If the xflow 200 works I am thinking that a EFI xflow head, intake and injectors and rails will go nicely with my T3 turbo which is factory set to run 14lbs of boost.

Depending on how things go I may wind up turboing the Oz head and throwing a TBI on it. Either way it will be a blow through system.

Imagine walking up to the Stang, looking in the hood scoop, and seeing what looks like a radiator with a big fan on top.( The 79-82 hoodscoop systems were notorious for not flowing much air since they are not well located in the airstream, but a radiator fan of the right size will blow plenty of outside air over the intercooler.)

Means I will have to get forged pistons and HD rod and main bolts too.

The megasquirt is something that you build youself. there's no place to order them unless you find somebody that's willing to build you one.

This is the site

http://bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html

Go to the bottom and click on the link and join the Yahoo Group. That is their message board. I was on earlier today and there are psots dated today, so they are getting traffic.

There was a link to order a completed Megasquirt but the link is dead. Otherwise you have to assemble it from a parts kit( anyone remember Heathkit?)

It seems simple enough that I can do it, and if I cant my ex roommate can, he lives for a reason to heat up his solder gun.

Also, Megasquirt is supposed to be working on a ingnition system, I thought it said it was going to be a standalone system, possibly supporting DIS. No news if they have even developed a hardware version yet.

If the makers of MegaSquirt ever succumb to 'Feature Creep', I hope they add DIS and VCT support, perhaps with some form of automatic trans control too. Ok, that last one was me dreaming, but yeah.

So someone makes them? I dont fancy my chances of getting it right, with a soldering iron and sensitive electronic components

Megasquirt is adamant that they wont add Ignition control to their Megasquirt but they have said they are working on a ignition comntroller, possibly for a DIS system, but there has been o word on when it might be out.

You might want to look into Ultra Mega Squirt. They are combining the Mega Squirt with the Mega Jolt. The result will be a SDS like engine managment system for under $500.
It's not ready yet, give it a year.

Yeah, I get all lathered up over the MegaSquirt, too, but like discokin6, I don't fancy my chances with a soldering gun...

You should be able to order them....i just got one in May, you get the printed circuit boards for the computer, the relay box, and the simulater, the pre-programmed processor, the MAP sensor, and the MAX clocking chip from Megasquirt, the rest is ordered throught Digi-Key online through a link in the ordering section of the megasquirt website. Th3ey havea message board on YAhoo that you can sign into and find the link ot order from....

They also just came out with a vacuum flourescent display that displays all the parameters of the fuel injection including enrichments, sensors, battery voltage, and it can all be configured in the car with out a laptop....the display (Megveiw) uses fourt buttons so you can configure it while on the road without breaking out the laptop....i got one of those too...

They uses a relay board to simplify the conedtions, fuses, and relays inline betweebn the engine hrness and the computer...

You can download the software for free on the site to set up your constants in the computer, and to modify the VE table in any way...

I like it....im converting my carbed 300 with a stock Ford EFI manifold, making my own wiring harness. installing headers and dual exhaust, and in the future, adding a turbo to it....

They have easy to follow instructions...i put it together just fine...
