It's possible to install the 40 and 50 series w/o welding, right? If so, maybe I can find someone who's willing to experiment w/ a pair of each...still a ways off, though.
I have flowmaster hushpower mufflers installed on a dual outlet header.
these mufflers are real expensive & sound great at idle but on acceration I am very dissapointed.
From all the sound clips the borlas sound the best. Just a matter of choice.
These hushpower mufflers are very compact & have a heat insulation around them so they do not radiate much heat to the body of the vehicle.
I may go the borla route or just good old 40 series delta flowmasters??

anytime you put an X pipe on a car its really gonna change the sound! i run X on both my cars .. H before and X after. with an X pipe they won't even sound like the "normal" flowmaster sound.
btw sweet set up! you have a whole pic of the exaust?

.... While I would like that, I'm sure the wife will have other feelings. This is basically her car, so I need to build to her tastes. I still want the exhaust to have great flow, and good sound, just a tad bit mellower in the car.
personally if your looking for something quite don't get flowmasters. and if your worry about what your wife will think, don't even consider them IMO try a magaflow.. much more quiter about 10xs over any chambered muffer without loss of the power like a turbo muffler.
my stepdad was helping me look for exhaust shops and he said he talked to one guy and he was worried that there wouldnt be enough backpressure to use some of the mufflers with our engines. has anyone had that problem? i dont think he has had personal experience with it but it was his theory.
I think mufflers are the worst part about hoping up the 6 cylinder. It's somewhat about performance, but mostly about sound (so appearance). THe real bitch is that there are so few built up inlines in one area to really compare. V-8s are so different that you can't go off the same sound comparison.
I have flow master 50s. When I get the money and inclination (and car back on the road) I may pull them off and put turbo mufflers on. I'm not real happy with the 50s. I should say that I'm not 100% satisfied. Many of the reviews of them are right. THey are nice, better then 40s for mellowness. Nice rumble at idle, quiet as can be at highway speeds (can't hear them in the car), and WOT still makes me grin. But...and this is a big but...they have the typical flowmaster drone at 2000-2500 RPM. So around town, they get a little annoying. So I'm torn. Maybe I'll just get some resonators put in to help mellow it out more.
