This might be a dumb question but I am by far NOT a turbo expert. I know the basics.. Anyway ok Ive got a subaru with a turbo that is banging and clanging so basicly motor is crap. Anyway I am thinking of taking off the turbo I believe its a T3 I am not for sure. Anyway... With the waste gate wired shut It was making about 12psi on a 1.8l flat 4. My question is If it can make 12psi with a 4cyl would this thing put out as much boost with a 300? and wouldn't it spool much faster because of the larger engine? I was looking at it and think a suck through turbo setup could be fabb'd fairly inexpensivly on my 76 carbd 300. Very cheap considering FREE turbo... Anyway any thoughts on this? I am probably mmistaken but I would think that a 300 would spool it much quicker because it has ALOT more exaust pressure. I am looking for awesome pulling power more than high rpm hp. I was thinking maybe running a motorcraft 2bbl and stock cam. Was kinda thinking it would make good boost at low RPMS but peter out at higher speeds..?? This would be ideal as I would probably run stock cam and 1bbl carb. I am thinking of awesome tourque in say 2000/3500range. Any thoughts on this would be appreceated. I've figured out most of the fabbing to hook it up, wouldn't cost me hardly anything with what I have laying around and what I can swipe off the dead subaru.

With the big straight six, it will spool faster, but with the more cubic inches to play with, you are gonna max the turbo out quicker. It will hit peak boost faster, and then will drop down from peak after you have maxed the turbo out.
