Timing

This weekend I'll be working on my car and was looking for some advice on what I need to do to set the timing correctly. I've mentioned before on the board about my car having a hesitation issue and lack of low end. I recently put a Autolite 4V from pony on it and it helped with the issue but still lacks low end grunt, while still having a slight hesitation. I'm convinced that the issue is associated with the timing. I set the timing with a vacuum gauge and have the vacuum advance plugged into a full manifold source. I was wondering how i set the the mechanical advance and what i should set it at? Any other thoughts or recommendations would be great! I just feel like the car should be a lot faster and respond better than what it is doing right now.

Engine specifications:
200ci
CI Aluminum Head
1.6 Roller Rockers
10 to 1 Compression
DUI Dizzy
Autolite 4V 480cfm Pony Carb

I have a holly 500 cfm on mine and recently the car has started to hesitate, spit, and sputter and so on. I took the carb off changed the power valve to a 4.5 (I have c4 and high cam making low vacuum) and jets to a lower number. Put the carb back on and the hesitaion was even worse.

Taking a shot in the dark, I blocked the wheels, put it in gear, and turned the dizzy way out of the spec range until it smoothed out. Tightened the dizzy down. It is running better then ever before.

These are just suggestions, hope it helps.

I too have bought a 4100 and plan to put it on. How do you like the 4100? Keep us informed. Thanks
