Torque Spec Question

Got the dampener installed this morning but I'm running into some confusion here for the torque setting on this bad boy. CI has the value spec'd at 85-95 ft lb however the ARP bolt indicates 120 ft lb. Now, the instructions with the bolt indicate that the application is "FORD 289-460 (except 351C). I'm inclined to go with the 85-95 ft lb value.

Nevermind. Looks like the wrong part was sent to me. This bolt does not appear to be the same size the one I pulled out of the crank. Guess I'll be getting ahold of CI to figure out what happened there...

Well, good news I reckon. I called Mike at CI and he's going to look into what he can do to find the right size bolt. Says I'm the first one to have an issue with that bolt. Now I've got to wonder what in the heck kind of crank I've got in there and/or what the deuce Ford was doin the day they put my engine together.

So I guess this will slow me down a little bit. I can still get my new alternator in and the heater hoses all hooked up. Will hold off on reinstalling the fan since I don't want it on while trying to torque down that dampener. Looks like my new alternator is unregulated so I'm off to the store to get a regulator and maybe a relay to start hookin up that snappy new dizzy.

I reckon if you ain't surprised by nothin you aren't payin close enough attention...
