Got a new CI aluminum head and there are 4? threaded holes in the intake side of the head. Appear to be drilled into water jacket. What are they for?
Edit:
Just seen the thread on this. Still, what are the uses for them?

You're talking about the ones in line with and down between the exhaust ports? I'm pretty sure those are there to help get the casting sand out of the water jacket. Once you've checked to make sure that's been accomplished, go ahead and plug them. I would suggest you use some sort of anti-seize compound on the threads of the plugs so you can pull them out later if you ever need to.

Thanks for bearing with my ignorance guy's. Gotta ask to learn.

You gotta be kidding me. You are ACTUALLY DOING what most of the guys here are still dreaming about. Heck, everybody here stands on the shoulders of giants. Next year, you are going to be answering questions about the head. Props, Old Man.

Off Topic But: Thanks for the encouragement guy's. Forced to retire due to health in 2001 and have restored six old VW"s and now on my third old Bronco since then. Alway's wanted to to do a built six, so this 66 half cab is ground up and for myself. Probably my last major build.

Summit sells anodized aluminium hex plugs in various colors.

That would be better than using a different material plug.

I am suprised the proper plugs are not included with the head, especially for the price you pay. Outlaw

or, to look at it in a more positive manner, Mike is doing what he can to knock down the price

i just took a quick look through all 12 of his posts, i didn't really see anything beyond a comment about CI's valve covers that Mike acknowledged was a problem area and one that he was looking at fixing

if there's something i overlooked please let me know, but at the same time realize that Mike is not Divine, and at times people might differ on their outlook of what a good business model would involve
criticism is good, without it you can't grow

the only reason i'm mentioning this is that i know that such things blossom and i don't want it to grow beyond this, if it does please do so in private via PMs
