took out my 77 maverick today and when i put it in drive there is a knocking noise under the seat and when i put alittle bit of pressure on the rear of the tranny it stops what do u think it is? it is a i6 motor.and just put in new u joints thought that was it. thanks

Check out your transmission mount, they make a good cluck sometimes. J.

i just used my hand to put pressure and not much at that

and u cant hear it from underneath the car but u can hear it good when u are sitting in it
