For those who wanted some info on our custom turbo cam.....
It idles very nice. No big lope or anything. Drives around the city like a stocker. Pulls about 13 inches at idle.
Throttle tip in is SO much better than the 292s cam we were using. Very quick response and easy to drive.
Turbo lag is very minimal. But it's hard to tell this with our converter.
Our 60' times decreased by 2 to 3 tenths vs. the 292 cam. Kelly was consistantly in the mid 1.6 sec. range. And that's only leaving the line at 3000rpm. We need to do some work on raising that a bit. We tried a 4000rpm launch but the track couldn't hold it. She just spun way past the 60' mark.
The ETs and MPH were very consistant for a change.
11.06, 11.07, 11.14, 11.19. and a 13.something (spinning).
123-125 MPH was the norm all day. 101mph in the 1/8 mile!

So the cam worked well, but I'm not convinced yet that it's any better than Mike's 274 cam. The two cams are real close on the exhaust side, but our cam has a bit more duration on the intake.
But I'm satisfied with it. It'll stay in there.

We did end up with a headgasket leak between #5 and the water jacket. The O-ring gap created a path for water to leak into the cyl. So we have the head back off replacing the Stainless Steel O-rings so that the end gaps are tighter and located away from all of the water jackets.
We'll race again over Memorial Weekend down here in Tucson.

Ian,
Just little 235/60-15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials.
It's the biggerst tire we can fit into unmolested wheel wells.

How do those fit, I am up against the same situation myself...

That's still a 9" tire. I'm surprised that you have traction problems w/ them. The ET streets seem to hook really hard. I've been involved w/ a car running similar ET's on a 9" tire (ET drag) that hooked so hard it would bog the motor. We were doing 1.5 60' nitrous launches.

Those tires hook great normally, but when we upped the RPM to try and decreaset the 60', it just blew the tires off.
We're also leaving on the transbrake with around 10lbs. of boost.

We have no more than 1/2" clearance between the tire and the closest wheelwell surface.
But they don't rub! :D
