I bought some turbo stuff.

Garret T-3 , full roller bearings, water cooled , .82 A/R , external waste gate, electronic boost controller.

I guess it is a start into turbos for me. I have run super chargers years ago.

I've never blown through a carb, i will need help from you guys. I have a Holley 500 2 barrel to use on the 200 Ford i am building. I've got an Aussie head from AZCoupe.

Now to find an inter cooler. I may run a water / air Inter Cooler with a ice chest tank inside the car for the drag strip use

I just got my carb accesories today from summit, no turbo though. I went to the local junkyard and got an emissions exh. manifold to make a turbo manifold out of... your setup is looking alot better than what Im hoping for! Tommy

oh the hijack.....

how does that emissions manifold look like for a trubo setup? I was king thinking you could just use a small box or elbow off the outlet to hook up the turbo or something similar.

I don't think it is a good idea at all. I have three of them and I looked high and low for a good pre-emissions log.

There are a lot of reasons not to use one...but back to the original poster....!!

Crosley,

I would sell the 500 and get a smaller carb. Trying to blow through a carb that is too large will cause nothing but headaches as there isn't enough pressure drop through the venturis under boost. It is far easier to make a smaller carb work.

I have a 1.125" venturi single barrel carb.....and if I had a good 60' time I would be in the 12's!

The Holley 500 is a swap meet find many years ago. I can find another carb if needed.

I beleive the compressor side is 54 or 57 mm.... How do you tell , measure ? I am a turbo spec idiot. I understand the basics , but the A/R , T-3 T-4 sizes is something I am not up on yet.

Cost for the turbo parts? I ain't tellin. The turbo is in great shape

I bought the turbo stuff from a co-worker. He had just built a 130 cid Mopar 4 cyl FWD car for the 3rd time. He smoked the motor , cyls #1 & 4 again.

He said the turbo had a bit of lag on his car but would spool quickly to 20 psi at the light. He did not spend time working with the car at lower boost levels. He turned the wick up on the boost from the get-go. Probalby why he smoked 3 motors in the same 2 cylinders each time.

Is an exhaust temp guage a must have on a turbo?

thanks.

Measure the diameter of the wheel at the compressor inlet.

Looks like a Super 50 or Super 60 - high $$$. Its a good one.

Forget EGT, a wideband O2 is a bettter investment.

THe compressor housing has: M33 , a/r .60 , KTT1 cast into it.

I've been looking at wide band O2 also.

Thanks for the tip
