turbo questions from a newbie

Ok i am trying to figure out what turbo i want to use for my 65 6cyl 200cid mustang with manual trans ( I am planning to swap to a t5 and an 8" rear end in the near future). I am planning to make my own header and adapt a t4ish turbo to that and also make provisions for an intercooler. I have 3 questions:
1. What would i have to use for the header flange? I know that i can get a turbo flange to put on the end of the header, but what type of metal can i use for the header flange and where can i get it?
2. There are hunders of combinations of turbos out there and very few of them are t4's anymore. Most of them are hybrids and that has me somewhat puzzled. I have figured out what type of compressor i want to get (most likely a t04B s-trim, or maybe a t04E 57 trim) but the turbine is what puzzles me somewhat. Most turbines out there are t3's. What effect, if any, will a t3 turbine have on my engine? Will it spin too fast?
3. I am planning on buying the DUI ignition distributor, will that work well with a turbo setup or should i consider the msd with the duraspark?

Any input is very much appreciated. I know i am a newbie to this but i am very eager and willing to learn. So far i have read and reasearched alot of information to begin to start planning my project, but not having any hands on expreience is what drives me to ask questions.

Thank you very much in advance!

If you're going to use mild steel for the header, I can get a 3/8" thick laser cut flange for you. It'll usually run around $60 + shipping.

I prefer the T04E turbo with a .58 A/R turbine housing for the 200. It spools real fast and should make power up to 6K rpm easily.

You should be able to find a used one out there. Presision, Turbonetics, Garrett all make them if you want a new one.
Mike (AZCoupe) has one of mine, it's a 58mm, P-trim, TO4E with a .69 A/R housing on it.
I don't think he's going to use it, so PM me if you're interested in it.

The DUI distributor will work fine with a turbo. You will probably have to limit the amount of advance though. I haven't opened one up yet to see how this will be done. But I will!
We're going to be hooking one up to a turbo'd, EFI, 250, 5-speed later this month! We'll let you know how it goes!
Later,
Will

It's actually AZcoupe's '69 Sportsroof that'll have all of this stuff.
There's a post on here somewhere about it.

But we're going to be using a FAST system.

yodabiri,
you don't need to be afraid of T3 hybrids.
There are a LOT of VERY fast Buick GN's and GMC Syclones running around with T3 hot sides.

The whole hybrid thing started when people found out you could get faster spool-up with a smaller (lighter weight) turbine wheel, and still have adequate airflow through the compressor side with a compressor from the larger TO4 turbo series.

TO4 turbines are generally O, P, and Q trims. The "O" trim TO4 turbine wheel is just a little bigger than a T3 "Stage III" turbine wheel (as a comparison)
but because the wheels are shaped slightly different, the T3 will spool a little faster (thorobred) whereas the "O" will work harder to spin a bigger compressor (draft horse)

As with everything, there must be a "balance"

Will and Kelly's Falcon runs a "P" trim turbine, which is good for the type of racing they do. It will support a lot of exhaust flow before it becomes a restriction. A turbine wheel that big on a 200 would be considered pretty "doggy" on a 200 cube street-driven car.

The big question to help you select is:
what kind of driving do you plan to do with the car?

I am not planning to race my mustang, but mostly use it on the street. I dont know why but i have set a goal for myself to achieve better than 1hp/cid. And turbo seems very efficient at achieveing this. Until i surely decide to go with the turbo, i will try my best to squeeze as much power out of the NA motor.

Thank you for the response.

300 street driven HP is possible, but you would need some good talent involved.

Your car would be a rocket at that power level... unless you know what it feels like, you can not even imagine it.

You would have to do some suspension upgrades and need bigger tires to keep from going sideways when shifting under boost.

As for the suspension i am planning to completely modernize the front and put an 8" for the rear. And as for the wheels i was thinking about going with the bullit style black wheels.

Thanks everyone for the great responses!

Are you going to use the aftermarket Mustang II front end components?

No. I dont want to cut my car up just yet. HAHA I was thinking of using the fatman fabrications setup. It seems reasonably priced and also includes a tilt steering column which i was planning to install anyways. By the when i get around to it i will be posting up some pics of my mustang.
