:D DANG, I am having a really good night tonight! A few of my friends came over and helped me throw down on the import killer. We got most everything together and could not help rigging up a few things just to get it going and hear it run for a second. We started up the motor without the intake piping hooked up at first. You could really hear the turbo spool just hitting the gas. The turbo was blowing a TON of air out the compressor with just a little rev. We HAD to throw together some stuff to get all that air into the motor. Well after a few cuts with the recip saw and some wire ties we where ready to boost the six up! I started it up and my friend hit the gas(no cable yet) and the diffrence from the unboosted six was unreal! The RPMs shot up as the turbo WHOOSSHHED! We wanted to see how much boost we where making so we hooked up the boost gauge and fired it up again this time with the camera rolling. I stood on the brake and put it in gear. My friend mashes the gas and the turbo starts to spool, the car starts to twist up as the little six takes on a evil new tone and the turbo screams, with 5psi the tires start to spin. After shutting it off we saw our rigging had been blown apart and air was leaking just about every where. We decided to call it a night after all we did today. Well, I have a big day tomorrow of finishing up a few things and getting the carb cut and sealed. I am very happy about the turbo six and it has not even left my shop yet! I can't wait to drive it and see what it is going to do! I have lots of pics of the motor and will take more of all of it in the car. I will try to get them up soon. Well, just wanted to let you guys know it was at least running. I will let you know more tomorrow. Hopfully it will be good!

Yea, I know! I wish you guys could hear this thing! I will see what I can do about some audio.

Dan

Way cool, Dan! :D

I like that nice simple J-pipe you got rigged up. I bet you have at least 5 or 6 dollars tied up in it. Sort of takes the wind out of the sails of the "a turbo is too expensive" argument, doesn't it?

way to go man,

turbo inline sixes are the ducks nuts, they just sound absolutlry HORN!!!!!!

i love them!!

a t76 spooling is truly a sound to behold when ur mashing the throttle of a 250 cu in inline ford six

have fun mate

cheers.joe.

Dyno,Dyno,Dyno,Dyno,Dyno, please please we want to see the dyno numbers when she's running and all the spec's to your turbo project!
Now I won't be able to sleep, I've had a nice used turbo in my garage on the shelf waiting for me to start a Turbo Aussie 2V project:shock:

I wish I only had a few dollars in it! It just looks like a $3.00 pipe job. Would you beleive I paid for that? I got hammered BAD on the exhaust. I took my car to a shop I had never been to but heard it was top notch work but a little more $$$. I am fine with that. After telling him what I wanted he said $100-$150. A little high but if it will be nice good work I will pay that no problem. Well, after my car was ready to pick up he told me he had to use some new studs, gaskets, ect and it was a little more money. Okay fine. The price had now jumpped to $270! WHAT?! Okay now this guy is just jacking me bad now. Okay, WHATEVER here is $270. My cool turbo pipes are done RIGHT and I know never to go back to this guy. Well after I get my car back to my house and start taking the then mocked up turbo stuff off I get a good look at the pipes you see in the pics. What is this rigged up crap? Yes I got screwed. And this piping is 1000 times worse than it looks in the pics. Not joking. If it would not take forever I would list all the things wrong with it but I really don't feel like it. That piping makes me mad everytime I think about it! I had to do a LOT of work to it just to get it rigged up on my car to start it up in my shop! That is one of the first places it will go is back to MY good ole exhaust shop and have the crappy $270 stuff thrown in the trash and new sweet $50 pipes put on right. Unreal. That was very frusterating and killed my intrest in the turbo six for a long while. So yea, that is the story of my exhaust! :D

So 54 Ford, you are 100% right about my rigged up exhaust. Most anyone with some old pipes laying around, a saw, and hammer could do a setup like mine for next to nothing. And other than getting hammered on the pipes my setup is dirt cheap and VERY simple to do. I have a lot more time in it than anything else. And just like you said I think you can do a budget turbo setup for very cheap as long as you are willing to spend a little time with it. Just do your homework and use a good exhaust shop! :D

Dan

Ha, you like that triple post dont you!

Sorry.

Dan

You must've been wound up and really hit the "Submit" key hard!

Oh man! I could not sleep at ALL last night! I just kept thinking about the turbo whooshing, boost gauge getting up and the car just twisting up and sounding mean as crap!

I would love to get it up on a dyno. I think I can pull that off soon. Just have to come off $75 to get it on there. We where talking about that last night. I would love to run it on the motor and then hook up the turbo and see the diffrence.

A turbo Aussie would RULE! What turbo do you have?

Dan

Good to hear dan, I really really hope it works out, I would love to follow in your footsteps and get mine goin soon. I will start collecting parts as soon as you get yours on the road!! Im pushin for ya, good luck!
Matt

I have a IHI Turbo quite small, would spool up fast and then the waste gate would bleed off the excess boost, plan on setting it for about 5-6 lbs boost, just looking for that extra 40-50 hp! I all ready have the flanges and only need to have a pipe bent and welded for the J-pipe. My current problem is I have Clifford Dual out headers and exhaust, I will have to take the headers off and put the stock exhaust back on. I have a 1980 Ford 250 head in the garage I may just build the turbo up on it and pull the Aussie head or find another car with a ford six and put it on it to see how well it works before I mess with the Aussie setup as it is running very sweet now!

Congratulations!

I'm envious. I'm still waiting for some work by other folks--but I hope to be at your stage of the project soon.

Again, congratulations on see the project through.

Hey Mustangaroo, you pull that head and want to sell, give a price, I may be on the aussie head track, not sure yet. I have a few roads to choose on which way my car is going to go, but let us know!!
Matt
