well my question is how and who makes stuff to turbo a 92 EFI 300 in my f-150?

well... i sorta guessed that. so who would make a good turbo then. I wana make a two stage turbo setup, one smaller one, and a larger one. what do you think?

How much experience do you have fabricating parts and tuning engines? How strong are you on turbocharger theory? I'm asking because a sequential turbo setup is more complicated than it seems. I would suggest going with one turbo to begin with. Something like a Holden HX40 would be a good place to start, they're cheap and cores can be found in pretty much any diesel repair place.

You'll need upgraded injectors, some sort of standalone engine management (e.g. Megasquirt), and probably an upgraded fuel pump to begin with. Then you need to make a turbo manifold or switch to an older one-outlet manifold with a J-pipe, since you have the EFI manifolds. Of course various pipes and tubes and such for the intercooler and the rest of the intake tract. Also, other things I didn't mention.

But go for it though. Have fun and learn something.

I think that's too complex of a goal for a first timer.

Not needed, either, because a 300 makes ungodly low-end torque
("two-stage" setups are more for smaller engines that suck down low)

Read Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and Turbochargers by Hugh MacInnes. Once you have digested both of those books, you'll be ready to start thinking about how to do the job.

Does your truck have twin tanks? If it does that adds an additional problem you'll have to solve.

well yea i am a beginner. but i have a freind who is very good with deisles, and another who does vet engines... so they could help me... but im thinking about it. i never just head first into somthing i know little to nothing about... ill prolly start in the next year or so. anyway thanks for the books. ill order them next pay peirod... lol

well i just had a thought... would a supercharger be easier and more cost effective?

I'm planning on doing a single Turbo myself here in a few years. Once I can afford a complete engine rebuild, turbo, and afford to lose hours of sleep. LOL...

BTW I have an 89 w/ 300... I'm waiting for somone to make a step by step guide on a truck. I'm looking for ideas.

You can make your own step by step by looking at other 300 engines that have been turbo'd

There's actually a bunch of turbo'd late model EFI pictures floating around
