I have a 1966 3 speed 200ci stang. I wanted to do a V8 upgrade but it appears to be costly, my new plan is to revamp the inline. What are some things i might do to git some better power, I have looked at new 2 barrell carb and the adaptors, the split header and T-5 upgrade. I plan to do modifications over the course of the summer if the $ will let me, if not over a couple years. I might have the motor redone because it burns a little oil but but also to git more power, it has been a very reliable motor. If anyone could help me with possible things to do to the car it would be great. I am not too knowledgeable about cars but I can git by, so keep that in mind. Thanks

Those are good mods. However, the first thing I would do is make sure the engine is healthy to begin with. If it burns oil it could be anything from worn rings to valve seals or guides. I would test the compression first. The Duraspark or Pertronix ignition install is usually the mod to start with. Then I would worry about better fuel delivery and the exhaust. And in interests of safety, I would think about a dual-reservoir master cylinder. I have lost the brakes on my car and it is not a good feeling. Actually that would be the first thing I would do! Learned my lesson on that one. If you look around the site I'm sure there is a lot that will help you.
