Vac advance adjust

Probably a stupid question, but does the adjusting screw on the d-2 vac advance limit the travel of the piece or just the amount of vac it takes to activate it? Turns out that one of my customers has an old Sun dizzy machine for me to use and he asked me this.

I have been told that it is a spring pressure thing. Restricting the vac is not consistant and the travel is easier to limit other ways. Seems logical but I have no proof.

Turning the allen screw clockwise delays the advance. Counterclock to bring the advance in faster, this dose not change the amount of advance.

okay lol i learned something new today so today isnt a total waste. i didnt even know it COULD be adjusted.

hmmmm modulators too huh hmmmmm (thinking of the mega soft c-4 sushbox in the zephyr wagon)

Is the D-2 the duraspark? If so, does the vac advance for a '68 distributor work the same way?

Mine seems to work the opposite- CCW delays advance, CW brings it in sooner. Having trouble getting it to not spark knock (even at only 8 BTDC base, and it only does it with vac advance connected and at high speeds, especially under load at high speeds.

Maybe I'm going the wrong way.......

any vac advance that has a hexagon shape on the canister, is adjustable, you just have to stick the right size allen key in, to adjust it. if it dosn't look like like a hexagon, then it's non adjustable. this is pretty much for any manufacture.
