My co-worker has a 200 out of an '86 Mustang, runs but fouls out #3 and #6. What would you say is it's worth?

1. welcome to the forum
2. no 200 engines were installed from the factory in '86

The 3.8 L Essex V6 replaced the 3.3 L I6, as the 3.3 L engine had little demand and was dropped after 1982
As for a price most people picked up used running motors in the $100-$200 range, some have paid more, others have gotten them for free. Depends on what you think it's worth, how bad do you need one? What is his other offers? What do you want to put in? Without a casting number from the block it will be impossible to tell you which bellhousing pattern it has.

ditto to everything he said, except it has to be an 80-82 mustang, only years they came with the 200 on the fox body. (same for capri's)

and 100-200 bucks, less if it needs a rebuild asap more if it comes with a good maunaul trans assembly.

Value would be pretty negligible, unless it has some documented good aspects.

If it has a Borg-Warner 4-speed manual trans, that bell may be worth as much or more than the motor. :?

even if it ran perfect it would probably be hard for me to put out more than $100 for one. not that I6's are bad there just a dime a dozen. i'd hold out for a bigger 250 anyway

Sorry about the year, it's actually '68. Thanks for the information, you've all been very helpful.
