So the best i could come up with was that the A means light truck division. The only info i found for the D was for the Falcon in the 60s, Maverick in the 70s, and LTD in the 80s. Obviously that isnt right for a 1956 designed engine.

What is also odd is that the 4th digit is an A and not an E.

Thank you for that
Yah seem funny i did read somewhere that the A could stand for complete motor
Is a strange one. It also has been switched to electronic distributor and coil instead of points and also has aluminium head

B6 will be 1956, 6015 is block, aa ??? My guess is that its a Y block V8 probably a 272 form a Customline. heavy things. A mate of mine replace one with a 250crossflow, iron head, which performed better than the Y block, and the boat rose 500mm out of the water.

Yes, 6015 is the code for an engine block. AA is just a revision code. I assumed this was a six cylinder... Which in 1956 would have been the 223 if im not mistaken. I also assumed this was in Australia which can have different codes i believe.

215/223/262 engines 1952-1964. Cant figure the letter code either, but would be a 223 if the "A" = light truck.
