I am looking at picking up a 250 head and milling off the intake. Designing and building an intake that will mount a 40IDA weber. That is the 3 barrel weber. What are the pro's and cons?
Thanks,
Ken

I looked at the 40 IDA. You can pick them up from Porsche owners now and then. It may be too much carb. After reading several of the Weber books, the 40 IDF might be good but they're very rare.

8) the nice thing about the weber carbs, the dcoe, ida, and idf carbs specifically, is that they are easy to adjust. the bad thing about those carbs is that they are easy to adjust. as one of my college instructors(david vizard in fact) once said, there are a 1,000 different adjustments for the weber carbs, and 999 of them are wrong. you can change many things, the main jets, idle jets, emulsion tubes, air corrector jets, accelerator pump jets, chokes, etc. when they are right there is NOTHING like them, save perhaps a proper supercharged engine. these carbs are designed for 1 barrel per cylinder so you will need two of the 3bbl carbs, or 3 2bbl carbs. remember too that the ida carbs are down draft carbs, NOT side draft carbs, so you will need to keep hood clearance in mind.
