I dont have a height for ya, but when I was back in ND over the 4th of July last year my Dad had a couple 2.3L's lying in the barn (complete with carbs) and I noticed that the 2 '78s he had both had electric chokes, and I havent tried it yet, but it *should* be a bolt on.
The engines came out of '78 Mustang II's and AutoZone has them for 9.99$
Let me know if that helps or if you try it and if it works/doesnt work
