Hey all!

I am not sure if this will help anyone, but I have learned a bit about my carb.

Looks like when I ordered it from Clifford around 10 years ago, they supplied it stock. Which means that the jetting is really geared for something like a hopped up VW bug.

So, after dealing with stalls when accelerating or after shifts I finally drilled out the jets. Good idea, right...sort of.. Basically it led me to order a jet kit.

The jet kit came with 3 levels of tuning. This thing is well worth the $70 I paid for it.

If anyone wants any details, feel free to ask.

OK, so how about some details?
Like what was in the kit specifically, and how and what you did with it!
Where did you get the kit?

no problem...

here's the specs...

701 DGS contains 3 sets of jets

Set 1:
Choke Idle - 50
Left Idle - 50
Main Jets - 150
Air/Corrector jet - 190

Set 2:
Choke Idle - 55
Left Idle - 55
Main Jets - 155
Air/Corrector jet - 200

Set 3:
Choke Idle - 60
Left Idle - 60
Main Jets - 160
Air/Corrector jet - 210

I purchased it at http://www.carburetion.com/

The stock settings I had were:
Idles:45
Air/Corrector - 185
Main - 142

Anything else?

Howdy Tex,
I have a '66 Mustang 200ci with the H/W 5200. Sounds like I'm having all the common problems that you had (stalls, flat spots, hesitation...) I just ordered 16 new jets thru eBay, main/idle and air correctors of various sizes.

What is you current car/engine upgrade setup?

Which jets worked for you?

Is the re-Jetting relatively easy and do you have any tips for someones first carb re-jet?

and

Are there any carb problems the new jets didn't fix?

Thanks for the info, Buzz

No problem buzz.

I'm not familiar with the 5200, but I am thinking it is probably similar to mine. All of the jest were easily accessible. The idle jets are changed from outside the carb, while the others are accessed by removing the top of the carb.

My biggest suggestion is to go to the website in my previous post and get a diagram or find a book. The pictures are worth a thousand words.

As for my set up...I am at setup #2 stated above. I might go to #3 after I drive it a bit more and see how it does in traffic and on the open highway.

Hope this helps. I know its vague, but I am learning myself.

Jason
