Well after some thrashing, Kelly's motor is rebuilt, installed, and ready for the Falcon Nationals at Indy on July 20-22.
We've made some minor changes to help us out. Here's a list:
Hughes 2500rpm stall converter. (Replaces a Hughes 3500)
Demon 500cfm Circle track carb 2bbl. (Replaces a Holley 350cfm 2bbl)
O-ringed block.
1/2" head studs. (Replaces the 7/16" studs)
New timing chain, '69 style, installed straight up. (Replaces a '73 style that I had advanced 2 degrees)(this change was in a mild effort to raise the torque curve up to a higher RPM)
www.classicinlines.com (FSPP) valve cover.
We haven't made any passes down the track yet, but the drive around the block seems a lot better than before. More street friendly. That Demon carb is SO much better than our junk yard Holley. At least so far...it's a little lean at WOT so there's some tuning to do.
Here's a pic of the newly installed motor. Same motor as before, just revised.
Hope to see a few of you at the Falcon Nats!!!
Later,
Will
